While Santa’s sleigh is getting tuned up for his flight on Christmas Eve, he was recently seen making a test drive through the streets of Freehold Township Fire District #1.  He had the opportunity to be driven around the neighborhood on Engine 16-1-77.

As an annual fund raiser, the Freehold Township Independent Fire Company delivers toys to your address for your special child or children.

We would like to thank those residents that took the opportunity to have toys delivered this year.

Room and contents fire (with emphasis on "contents"!)
Saturday, December 13, 2008
-
At approximately 5:30pm on Sunday, December 13 Station 16-1 responded to a room and contents fire in a home located on Stonehurst Blvd. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a light smoke condition in a room literally filled from floor to bed level with "stuff". Luckily, for the homeowners and for the safety of the firefighters who responded, the situation was quickly brought under control. Obviously, a room like this can be a major hazard not only to occupants, but also to firefighters if a search had been required.

Hospital smoke condition results in three alarm response
Sunday, November 9, 2008
-

On November 9, 2008, the Freehold Township Independent Fire Company, Station 16-1, was dispatched to Centre State Medical Center for a reported fire alarm. When Chief Riefer called in service, he was advised that the hospital security office was reporting a smoke condition in the basement of the hospital.

While en route to the scene, the Chief requested a three alarm assignment for the East Freehold Fire Company and Freehold Boro fire companies to respond to the scene.  Freehold Boro was also requested to provide an engine company for a cover assignment for Station 16-1.

Double Extrication on Georgia Road
Thursday, November 6, 2008
-
Station 16-1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Georgia Road late Thursday Evening, November 6th. Two teens were heading Westbound on Georgia Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, struck and downed a utility pole and flipped the car onto it's roof. Downed live electrical wires posed a major risk to firefighters and first responders who had to work in close proximity to this threat in order to extricate both teenagers. Freehold Township Police, MONOC Paramedics and the Monmouth County Serious Crash Analysis Response Team (S.C.A.R.T.) also responded. Monmouth County Firefighter's Competition
Saturday, September 20, 2008
-
After many years of inactivity, (no one is really sure why), Station 16-1 was finally represented in the 2008 Monmouth County Firefighter's Competition. Held at Colt's Neck FD, this annual event draws firefighters and their friends and families from all over the county for a day of fun, food and games. Firefighters compete in 4 timed events to show off their skills and compete for trophies and well deserved bragging rights. These events, while fun, are designed with a strong emphasis on teamwork in a "fire-matic" setting. The four events are: 1. Hose and Ladder, 2. Hose Lay, 3. Busted Hose and 4. (the crowd favorite) Water Polo. It was clear from the very beginning that this competition was no joke! Teams put out some pretty impressive times at these events and competition was stiff. With that said, Station 16-1 proudly held their own!... (with only three hours practice, and literally the night before the competition!!!). Thanks to Colt's Neck for hosting this fun event and all the fellow brothers and individuals that made us feel right at home. Thanks to our sister companies, East Freehold and Freehold Borough for their hospitality. Special thanks to Lieutenant Bryan Zuccarelli for orchestrating our involvement back into the competition and Mike Fogarty for coaching our team. Hope to do this again next year!
